Butler (Henry) School (first) is built.
1783
It is located in a former corn barn of Richard Clarkes across from the current school on River Street. The oldest schoolhouse in Hyde Park, it is named for a minister who settled in Dorchester about 1654. A new school (second) is built in 1786* and another (third) in 1804.* The original building remains in use as a private home.
